Bring the Classic Jersey to Alabama Hoops

The uniform landscape in college basketball has been a revolving door in recent years. Nike, Adidas, others have not only provided updated home and away jerseys, but they have been designing countless alternate logos, color schemes, and even incorporating some powerful social justice insignias.

The Alabama brand is known for its unwavering support of the classic, no-nonsense look that stands the test of time. The standard for Crimson Tide Men’s (and Women’s!) hoops should be no different.

In recent years, the Nike brand has selected a handful of ‘upper-tier’ Men’s D-I basketball schools to don their “Replica Retro” line of uni’s that feature a strong but simplistic font that stands out amongst the pack. Alabama could afford to take a page out of someone else’s book for once and bring a classic flair to the basketball lineup.

Tennessee and Arkansas are recipients of the classic design and add arguably the best look to their respective wardrobes.

Middle Tennessee has elected to go with this look permanently in 2020-2021.

The design includes school name or identity above (and potentially below) the chest numerals. Triple looped arm/neck holes, and optional side-striping. Below, you can compare the modern home to the classic home threads and decide for yourself which look is a better fit.

Alabama’s recent regular season success and seemingly bright future under Nate Oats deserves some recognition, namely in the form of a new look. Whether they are reserved for select games or become a permanent fixture, now is the time to bring the classic jersey to Alabama hoops.

User BAMA Uniform Tracker (@BamaUniTracker) on Twitter has provided a render of what those classic jerseys would look like, and the results are simply fantastic.

Not only should this look be created for special matchups throughout the season, it should be considered as a permanent replacement for the everday home and away jerseys.
